A Pirate Update

I’m still pinching myself. . . I published a book. The past month or so has been a wild ride, but in a great way. In the midst of publishing, editing more things I hope to publish, querying, writing new things, teaching dance, and preparing my dancers for competition season (just around the corner!), I wanted to just give a small update on how it's been going for the tale of Captain Harline and his First Mate.

I’m still working out the kinks of being my own marketing squad, of just getting my book out there to the world, but the support here at home from friends, family, and dance students and their parents has been incredible. That alone has made this endeavor feel so worthwhile. Thank you for the support, everyone. It means the world to me.

The Wild Tales of Squall and Chubasco has certainly made more sales on Amazon than on Barnes and Noble, but to be honest I just felt super validated to see my name on a book on sale on Barnes and Noble's website. It was always a dream to see my name on a shelf in that store, even if it was a virtual shelf. But, recently I've decided to pull it from Barnes and Noble so that I could enroll it in Kindle Select to help boost marketing. But because of that, it is now available on Kindle Unlimited! If you’re enrolled, you can read it for free! In a few months I will probably put it back on Barnes and Noble, but for the time being it is now exclusive to Amazon.

Now that my novella has been out for a bit and time will only tell for all my marketing schemes, I went back and did another run of edits for Pyxis Nautica, my true novel that The Wild Tales is a prequel for. It just needed another run of edits for continuity purposes now that my “write for fun” novella became a true part of the canon. I’m now back in the running querying for agents to consider taking my novel to publish it the traditional way. Just exploring every route that I can! As what is engraved on Squall's blade and what Chubasco likes to say: “cielo con diamantes”. It's Chubasco's version of “hakuna matata”, and it translates to "sky with diamonds". He says it because he is sure things will work out as they should, just as he is sure there are stars in the sky. It's his version of the "no problem" philosophy, because a problem isn't a problem when it leads to what should be.

The Wild Tales of Squall and Chubasco: El Saqueo de Nassau has also gotten a few reviews and shoutouts from Instagram bookworms/influencers/reviewers. You can see some below! And I’ll be sure to keep updating on reviews on socials as they come along.
